“Sure. I was going to say that if there is a question, that I'm fine with delaying it to make sure that we get it right. And as for the... anonymity part of it. I'm fine with that too. People have the right to do anonymous public records requests. I've had three anonymous public records requests in the last couple months along with three or four where people put their names on it. I think if people have an issue, they can choose to put their names on it or not put their names on it. That's certainly their right.”

“Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Commissioner Flowers, I grew up in Jacksonville and I'm a graduate of Duval County Public Schools, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that Pinellas County is a lot better than Duval County. But as for my report... I too attended the 9-11 Remembrance event at OCC with several of you, along with Congressman Donald and some of our legislative delegation. And I also attended the Changemakers Breakfast yesterday, hosted by the Pinellas Education Foundation. And I wanted to congratulate the champion of education award, which was presented to Kay Dillinger and her…”

“Thank you, Mr. Chairman. A year ago, if you would have asked me, I would have had no idea what vascular disease or vascular issues were. And if I would have had to guess, I would have just said it was something that would have affected old people. But on a random Monday morning last September, I got a searing pain in my stomach. The only thing that I could compare it to would be a heart attack. But I knew that since it was in my stomach, it was not something related to a heart attack. But my wife took me to the ER. The original ER doctor thought that I was IBS, sent me a couple days later to…”

“To that point, Mr. Chair, and I like that idea. I was at, I've been to Sprouse Horizon Park a couple times in Pinellas Park. And the new thing now in these little league fields, And Little League Complexes are having tiki bars and restaurants and stuff like that. And from what I've heard is Pinellas Park is making a decent amount of money doing stuff like that. And so if we're... if we're looking at like naming different facilities, could we also look at doing things like that at some of our, like also doing that at some of our facilities? Like we're adding like a restaurant slash like…”

“Well, that's what I was. That was my question when I was in Pinellas park was these, you get these little league parents that are, and especially like travel ball. Cause they're very competitive, but that's like the thing now is that they go and you know, So now they can get sloshed when they yell at the umpires.”

“Well, and to Commissioner Scott's point, I still think that we should look at some commercialization of our county building, like what Largo is doing. I mean, they just got a sports bar from Tampa to move in. To move in? Yeah, I think they're up to three restaurants now.”

“it seems like largo is making it more of like a destination which i don't know why people would want to go hang out at city hall but like they have more like it's like more of like a community hangout spot which i don't know that our facility will be like that but if we add like a chick-fil-a for instance or Something like that.”

“Thank you, Mr. Chair, I totally agree with Commissioner Scott There are many worthwhile nonprofits in Pinellas County including the folks that are here tonight But I don't believe that It's our function and our body of government to fund them. The state has a whole heck of a lot more money than we do. The state routinely funds different nonprofits and different organizations through their budget. And also, nonprofits do a lot of fundraising. And I know times are tight, and I imagine they're tight in the fundraising world, but our residents are also facing you know rising cost of gas their…”

“Thank you. You answered, I was going to have a question about the BayCare piece, but you answered that one. but I will go ahead and I think that social action funding can be funded through the legislature. They have more funds than we do. And those items are routinely funded in the state budget and the various silos. And so I would be supportive of that. just getting out of the business of funding nonprofits through the county budget and focusing on core services.”

Um, because what there's like what 420 or 450 county commissioners in Florida or something like that.”

“Thank you very much, Mr. Chairman. I wasn't going to say anything, but since you mentioned it, Commissioner, the First Amendment does afford people the opportunity. to make fools of themselves on occasion. And I will always defend that right. One of the things that I did not realize when I first got elected to this commission is that some of the folks that would travel to Tallahassee to speak before committees also come here on occasion. So it's kind of nice to get the Tallahassee perspective from time to time. But I will always support our residents and non-residents from wherever they may…”

One of the things that I would like to do, and I talked to Barry about this, is Hillsborough has a citizen doge committee. And that's one thing that I would like us to do. and my idea would be for each commissioner to appoint a resident in their district to serve as somebody on this committee and so there would be seven…”
