  1. “It's on, isn't it? It's on? Good. All right. So we handed out awards recently, and these two officers weren't able to be at the ceremony where the awards were passed out. And so we definitely wanted to take an opportunity to present those awards to Officer Lutz and Officer Cornett tonight. So we've got a proclamation here. To all whom these letters shall come greetings, know ye that the Louisville Metro Council hereby honors Officer Giuliano Lutz, whereas Officer Giuliano Lutz has earned the distinction as the Fifth Division Officer of the Year, and whereas the safety and well-being of the…”

  2. “Thank you, President Ackerson. So this is an ordinance changing the zoning from R5 to R7 at 211 South 41st Street. It was a half-story home that was purchased in 2022 under the belief that it was legally zoned for a triplex. Subsequent to extensive rehabilitation, the three dwelling units were found to be improperly zoned. Change the zoning to R7 will allow them to host three residential units and be back in compliance with zoning. This is in District 5. It came out of committee unanimously and was approved. Since then, there's been some questions brought up, and it's in District 5, so I'll…”

  3. “Thank you. So this was presented in front of council by one of my colleagues at One Louisville. Simple as that. It comes from a very different part of One Louisville than the part I work in. But again, out of an abundance of caution, I'm going to abstain from the vote. Thank you.”

  4. “Thank you, President. Actually, I can't remember why we have this on old business instead of on consent. We had another one very recently. Sorry, Councilman Benson. So this was a closure of the underpass underneath I-65 that KYTC requested between Brook and First. It is a permanent closure for those of you who are interested. It's in Councilman Herndon's District 4. Would you like to speak to it, Councilman?”

  5. “Thank you, President. I want to just kind of echo what my colleagues have said. I think it's a really good compromise where we ended up. And I think just by asking the question and having MSD come over and explain it to us, it was really interesting. Most of the people in the room said, when we were talking about the presentation that MSD made to us to explain why they had such an issue with the ordinance the way it was originally written, everybody in the room said, wow, that was really informative. And so the byproduct of what we've done here is, yes, we're requiring MSD to come over and…”

  6. “People reach out to me and say, why are my property taxes going up? And what they are paying is going up because the value of their house is going up. And so I know that that doesn't make it any easier to pay a higher property tax bill, but it is not that your rate is going up. Your rate has gone down every single year that I've been on council, that percentage that you're paying is going down. It's just that everybody's property's values are going up which is a good thing in a way, but overall you pay more property taxes. But I think it's important. I have tried hard to explain this to my…”
