“Thank you. So the Saturday, Sunday analysis I thought was interesting, and it made me just pause and think, is there a reason that we continue to have free parking on Sundays, and if that's something that we should evaluate as part of this discussion or perhaps a future discussion. So I wanted to mention that. I have my theories as to why we had that as a remnant of previous societal values and want to look at the intention there and if that's really something that's helping our community or if we should reevaluate that.”

“Thank you. That would be helpful. I would assume that with our DEIB values, that it would be something that we would want to evaluate as well, given the history of probably how that was implemented.”

“councilman thank you madam mayor well thank you councilman pasco for that question i had a similar question related to that and other ways to achieve a similar goal um that we don't need to get into now but i'm curious i know that we have i'm going to blank on the name of the technology but tdc um you know has some technology that i know economic development utilizes to like to track people and where they are around the city not like in a like individual person kind of way but just like a numbers kind of way um so that i don't know if that would be a tool but i'd be curious to know if that…”

“Thank you, Madam Mayor. Well, thank you for this really thoughtful presentation. I know we've, as was noted in the memo, been working on this issue for years. So I do appreciate the thoughtfulness that we're going about this and that we have a focus of why we're doing this, right? That we're not just trying to you know, have a money grab for the public that's really intentional to help support our infrastructure and help increase turnover to help support our businesses and for more folks to be able to enjoy the park. So I think that's, I really appreciate that. I am interested in a plan at…”

“Thank you. I want to clarify one thing. I didn't add this, but this is something I've been... Mentioning to the city manager for years is the idea of the residential parking permits. And so I think I heard a couple of different ideas. And so I just want to share what I what I thought on that as well is I think I heard from one council member that having some sort of free residential or very low cost residential permit and then people who. would have to pay that don't live in Kirkland. And then I also heard people could buy a permit, like a monthly or annual permit, which I think is a slightly…”

“You're all welcome to join us up here. Sarah, there's a copy of the proclamation. All right, well thank you for being here with us tonight. As the Mayor said, I'm Council Member Amy Falcone, and I'll be reading the Disability Pride Month Proclamation. Whereas Disability Pride Month is celebrated every July, marking the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which was landmark legislation signed into law in 1990. that broke down barriers of inclusion for people with disabilities and protects against discrimination. And whereas researching, learning, and talking with your community…”

“I have kind of a 20,000-foot view question, and I know I've kind of asked this in different ways before, but I'm still struggling with it. So I'm not a transportation expert, but I am an expert in both walking and driving along school walk routes thousands of times. And so from that perspective... It makes sense to me, and I just want to understand, that some of our most vulnerable children walking to school are those who are furthest from the school, when there's not 50 kids all in a group that are very visible, and where there's not crossing guards, and where there's not as much flashing…”

“Okay, so we're basing it on speed and volume. On the slide six, it says that we're omitting six school crosswalk beacons and locations further from schools and which see less activity. So the volume there, but it still mentions the proximity to the schools is what grabbed my attention.”

“Okay. I'm still struggling with the logic behind the most kids, but thank you. I appreciate the explanation.”

“Thank you, Madam Mayor. Yes, I also do support option one. Obviously, I seconded the motion, but I would like to look at, per my comments earlier, additional improvements to further out parts of the school walk routes, which I think, again, in my expertise as a mom walking and driving kids to and from school thousands of times, seem to be the most dangerous parts of the school walk route. We all feel quite safe really close to the schools, and children do not feel as safe further out closer into the neighborhoods. Thank you.”

“Councillor Falcone. Thank you, Madam Mayor. In the interest of time, I won't give full reports tonight, but as always, there are lots of meetings and events and wonderful things happening in the community and that we'll continue to enjoy. Thank you.”

“Thank you, Madam Mayor. I really appreciate these applicants for applying for these positions. As was mentioned, it was really hard to recruit for their applications do look great. I'm not comfortable appointing anyone to represent the city as an appointed official on a board or commission without interviewing them and meeting them first. So I do not support these motions. I would support, you know, some sort of compromise like a reduced interview committee. Maybe the interview selection committee could interview the folks. I just think it's important to screen and meet anyone who's going to…”

“Thank you, Madam Mayor, and thank you, City Manager. And I appreciate your comments, Council Member Arnold. Thank you for that. I agree with Council Member Arnold. I think it might be prudent for us to have a little bit more discussion and legislative work group. I also think it looks like great legislation, right, that's worthy of supporting. One of the things that, for example, that stood out to me in addition to the context that you mentioned, is I didn't see crisis responders defined it as first responders in this, and I wonder if we could have a conversation with our Congresswoman about…”
