“Mayor, if I may read it, is that okay with you? Please. Okay, thank you, Mayor. Move to amend item 26 to direct the city manager to refrain from entering into executing, renewing, or extending any contract agreement or other arrangement with FLOC or any other provider for fixed networked automated license plate reader cameras or substantially similar technology unless authorized by subsequent action of the city council following a proposal or recommendation brought forward by the city manager of the El Paso Police Department or a member of the city council.”

“Thank you, Mayor. Where it says, unless otherwise directed by subsequent action by the city council, I would like to add the language that was sent, which is A recommendation brought forward by the city manager, the El Paso Police Department, or a member of the city council. Without striking any other language to this. And again, I just want to make sure that we have clarity and we give options to the police department or our city manager to bring something forward in the future. Okay. If necessary.”

“Thank you, Mayor. That is incorrect. I think that we are giving, throughout this vote today, the community a message that we are not supporting ALPRs at this time, and that any technology in the future, if there is one, that the community feels is aligned with our values, and that after a complete and robust discussion with their feedback and consent, we would move forward with. I think that's very clear today. Thank you, Mayor.”

“Thank you, Mayor, and thank you, Margarita. I think this is great for our community to ensure that we're equitable between hotels, short-term rentals, and all spaces that people can have access to. But I wanted to just touch base quickly on our audits. I know that you're not the city auditor, but I just want to put on the record that these will also be audited as all other hotels are in our community. I'm assuming the short-term rental tax that we collect.”

“Thank you mayor and thank you probably for the explanation. I'm happy to support this item as well, but I do want to recognize the fact that I also received some emails this morning, I'm not sure why they were directed at me specifically, but just to recognize the fact that this particular person for example said that although that 59 people signed the petition to change the name of the park. That's probably fewer than the number of people that visit the park on any given day. Again, I know it's very hard sometimes for us to communicate everything that we're doing as a city, although we try…”

“Thank you, Mayor. Thank you, Alejandra, Ian, Omar, and the entire slate team. I have a question regarding letters of support or opposition. I think last time we had a legislative session, we offered some of those. And I was wondering what the process was going to be like for those letters specifically. How do we decide what kind of letters we send and if council could also get an update on when those letters are sent out as well?”

“Yeah and I think it's great. I know that I've worked with the slate team in numerous occasions and so I would like to continue that collaboration. Thank you so much. I appreciate all the work that's been put into this.”
