“Okay. And, yeah, Teresa, do you want to speak? Because I think we need to.”
“So I'll just put that right out onto the table then for us to – I'll ask for not a five for us to give direction to city staff to continue engaging with the community about the DDA for the remainder of this council term. And I actually got Ryan first and then Matt.”
“So, Ryan, yeah, I appreciate that. Right now the thing on the table is whether we're directing city staff to continue engagement with the community on the DDA for the rest of the council term. You can support or not as you prefer. But I would really like to wrap this up. But, okay, Matt's gone first, and then I'll get to Nicole.”
“I was just thinking the same thing. I think that would be great. So let me change the nod of five to change that to ask staff to think about what next steps would look like, scope that out, and bring it back to us for another check-in in the near future. Sarah.”
“I think it's the scope. The question is what the scope is.”
“Is that not good enough? We're just asking them to scope it out now. Now the ask is for them to scope it out and come back to us. So we're not trying to figure out the details right here on the dais.”
“Okay, so I'm going to go ahead and ask if there's that nod of five for that scoping. All in favor, please raise your hand. And I got six. All right, so six in favor. So that's a nod of five plus.”
“Thanks. All right, that brings us to the end of that agenda item. Thanks to everyone who came out to speak to us about this and took your time and energy to weigh in. We appreciate your engagement very much. All right, I need to check in with council as people are heading out. It's 1042, so it's late. We have one agenda item left, which is the comp plan. That is time sensitive. I'm hopeful we could get through it quickly, but I would need council. I think we might even need a vote on it at this point.”
“I'm just going to check in to see if Council is willing to continue with the comp plan item. All in favor, please raise your hand of doing the comp plan item. All right, we got a seven anyway out of eight. So we will go to the comp plan item. So Alicia, this is our next public hearing item, please.”
“Great. Well, I have a clarifying question on that one. Are those motions exclusive of each other or do you need all three?”
“That's what I thought. So you're looking for all three? Yes. Okay, great. Any other questions for staff before we go to the public hearing? Not seeing any. Let's do the public hearing. We've got eight people signed up to speak. Everyone will have three minutes. And please do confine your comments to the specific amendments that we're considering tonight. Our first three speakers are all online. They are Carla Colleen, Lisa Spaulding, and Lynn Siegel.”
“All right. Our next three in-person speakers are Laura Gonzalez, Daniel Howard, and Daryl Monley. I don't believe Laura Gonzalez is in the room, so Daniel.”
“All right, we're going to go now to Daryl Monley, then Robert Mathias, and then Jennifer Mabry. And then Lisa Spaulding has come online. We'll get to her after that.”
“So, ma'am, we're considering these specific amendments to the comp plan tonight. If you could speak to those, please.”
“We're talking about the specific amendments that the presentations were about.”
“Certainly, if you want to speak to the general text of the comprehensive plan, you can.”
“Okay, thank you. Okay, now we have Robert Mathias, then Jennifer Mabry, and then Lisa Spaulding online.”
“Doesn't look like it, so let's go to Lisa Spaulding online.”
“Thank you. All right. That ends the public hearing. So we'll come back to city council. If we can get those motion language is the language for those motions up on the screen that be helpful please. So as I understood the staff recommendation it was to accept the proposed modifications from the other bodies to understand that correctly.”
“Yeah. Did you want to ask some clarifying questions based on the public hearing?”
“Yeah, the staff has recommended that we accept the changes from the other bodies. And my question is, does anybody want to speak in favor of doing something other than that? Me. Yeah, go for it, Tara.”
“And specifically straw poll in restoring the language, the words near transit to this?”
“So who would it have to get approved by if we made that change?”
“So I'll say, Tara, I'm not unsympathetic to your idea, but I would like to not ping back to all the bodies on this. Let's just do a straw poll. Okay. So all those in favor of restoring the language near transit that Tara has proposed, raise your physical hand.”
“Yeah, just you. So that doesn't move forward. Does anybody want to suggest anything else other than the staff recommendation? Seeing no hands raised, perhaps we could start going through motions.”
