I want to welcome everybody to the March 17th, 2026 regular town council meeting. Time called for 6 p.m. Time is approximately 6.04 p.m. Welcome, everybody. Town clerk, if you could officially call the meeting to order. Roll call, please.

0:29•Glenn Singer

Thank you. If everyone could please rise. Chief Rudy Habello, if you could lead us in the pledge.

0:56 – 1:53•Glenn Singer

Thank you, and again, everyone, welcome. First on the agenda are presentations and proclamations. We first wanna present the budget award, and this is a distinguished award presented to the town of Golden Beach. This will be the fourth year, more. 17th year, we only have four stickers. 17th year that the town of Golden Beach is presented with this Distinguished Budget Award, and I have to congratulate the town manager, the finance department, Maria Camacho, and everybody, because it was a team effort, Linda Epperson, the assistant manager, and your whole staff, Alex, for this great achievement

3:56 – 4:31•Glenn Singer

Thank you. Maria, real quick, one other thing that you guys do a phenomenal job that I know the residents appreciate is the town budget summary that we present to all the homeowners during the budget year. It's a brief summary of the budget for the fiscal year, And in fact, when we went up to Tallahassee, all the representatives that we presented this presentation to commented like, you guys are the only cities that do this. And they were so impressed with our little mini budget. And so I commend you on that as well and present you with this award.

5:15 – 7:54•Glenn Singer

Excellent. The next presentation is extremely honored to present the town manager who was presented the 250 champion of public service recognition. And tonight it's my honor to recognize town manager Alexander Diaz for an extraordinary national achievement. The National Academy of Public Administration, a congressionally chartered and nonpartisan organization has selected our town manager as just one of 250 champions of public service across the entire United States in honor of America's 250th anniversary. This recognition is especially meaningful as it comes from a nationwide pool of nominees

7:56 – 8:36•Glenn Singer

I can tell you, I'm one of the individuals that really hired Alex Diaz 18 years ago, Alexander Diaz. And he's been such a great addition to the town. And he's such a great addition. I know he's active among managers throughout the state, throughout the country. He takes leadership positions. He does a phenomenal job with the town staff. He does a phenomenal job with the town council. And he does an unbelievable job with the town residents. So, Alex, you deserve that award. We are so pleased to present that to you. And congratulations. Great job.

8:45 – 9:00•Glenn Singer

All right moving along motion to set agenda additions deletions removal of items from the consent agenda or changes to the agenda I have none town No town administration There is a new agenda face sheet that was on the dais.

9:06•Glenn Singer

We're good with everything? Perfect. Moving right along, good and welfare. Town clerk, anyone here for good and welfare?

10:42 – 13:01•Glenn Singer

Sure. Thank you, Lord. Thank you. Anyone else for Aguna Welfare? No, sir. OK, moving right along. We have mayor's report. Mine's going to be real quick. I have two items. One is, you know, spring break is here. So there's a lot of children running around. Can't urge the residents enough to be careful when you're driving through town, especially at night. A lot of people walk not on the sidewalk in the streets or ride their bikes in the street and wear black. Why? I don't know. And they're very it's difficult to spot him. So going slow solves that problem. Second thing is on Tuesday, March 31st

13:02 – 13:37•Bernard Einstein

Just real quickly on the budget. Great. Alex, unbelievable. And, you know, for all the people here in this town, all the residents in the community, I mean, look at what we have. It is just amazing. The Wellness Center is going up. It's almost like a miracle what's going on in this town. As I sit in here, I still pinch myself. It is truly amazing. Alex, you have a lot to do with it. Mayor, administration, everybody, council, thanks for making this happen and the public for supporting us. Thank you.

13:38•Glenn Singer

Thank you. I'll turn to, I'll go, Councilwoman Luskin.

13:45 – 15:08•Judy Lusskin

Congratulations, Alex. You did it again. I mentioned last meeting, if we could just double check on it, cars parking on the sidewalks. It's particularly construction sites. It's a little bit dangerous. We have some new people, I think, working in public works, if we could just remind them. that when they take the garbage, they close the gates and then reopen them and close them again when they bring it back. Because I'm getting a few calls here and there that dogs are getting out. And last but not least, we have somebody here that's part of our Golden Beach Youth Leadership Group, Mia Matsakov

15:10 – 15:37•Glenn Singer

Congratulations. That's it. Thank you, Councilman Bernstein.

18:07 – 18:29•Judy Lusskin

When the cars are parked on the sidewalk and the kids go off into the street and they don't know what's coming. And then just one note, Council Member Bernstein, we owe a lot to you for the beach. You have been waving the beach flag for years and years about the chairs, the colors, the couches, everything. So when I go out there and look at the beach truthfully, I see your face.

18:31 – 18:59•Glenn Singer

I think it's all of us funny when I see look in the sand I see But gotta also give vice mayor council Wendell because when she came on council that was her number one Is to get towels on the beach so I commend Councilman Bernstein and also vice mayor because if one for you would be another year before we got him So great job. Thank you everybody. Appreciate that very informative moving on to town managers report I

22:20 – 22:37•Glenn Singer

Excellent. Thank you, town manager. Town attorney, Steve, you have anything? Okay, moving right along. Ordinances first reading. An ordinance of the town council of the town of Golden Beach amending the town code and ordinances chapter 66 zoning to amend piling requirements.

22:57•Glenn Singer

I need a motion to approve. I need a second. Town Attorney or Town... Matt? Steve, you want to... Alex?

24:41•Glenn Singer

Okay, thank you. Any council comments? None. Public comments? None. A roll call, please.

24:58 – 25:14•Glenn Singer

Motion passes. Item number L, ordinances second reading. We have none. Item N, quasi-judicial resolution. We have none. Item number N, Major project update town manager. Can you give us a update on the reimagined?

29:26 – 30:26•Glenn Singer

Thank you, Town Manager. Moving right along. Consent agenda. The following four items on the consent agenda. Official minutes of the February 17th, 2026 regular town council meeting. A resolution of town council authorizing the sale of four Chevrolet Tahos and one international command post for the town's vehicle fleet. Item number four, resolution for the town council authorizing the purchase of vehicles and emergency equipment of the vehicles, for the vehicles. Item number five, a resolution of town council authorizing the use of law enforcement trust funds, LETF, as they become available fo

30:27 – 30:44•Glenn Singer

Anyone oppose? The four items on the consent agenda pass. Moving on to letter P, town resolution. A resolution of town council amending the town schedule of building permit fees and other fees. Town clerk.

30:55•Glenn Singer

A motion to pass? Approved. Excuse me. I need a second. Okay, Town Manager.

34:36 – 35:27•Glenn Singer

Well, town manager, very well put. I talked to two contractors over the last week who build high end homes and on the ocean. They said $2,100 is very cheap, very cheap, and probably too cheap. But the second thing that was brought up is zone two and three. Right now, the code says the fee structure set at $600 a foot. And in this environment, there is no way that you can build at $600 a foot per several contractors that are currently building. So it's more like $1,400 a month. Foot but I'm proposing that we move to six hundred dollars up to nine hundred dollars for zone two and three Meaning t

35:39 – 35:55•Glenn Singer

In addition to that, add zone two and three, move it from $600 to $900. We have not changed that fee in a long time. It's been a while. And obviously, construction costs in the last year have gone up 30%. Not going back, the last five years have gone up a tremendous amount.

36:54•Glenn Singer

I'll open up. I'll start with Vice Mayor. Do you have anything to comment? This is new construction only, right? New construction.

40:54•Glenn Singer

Councilman Einstein, you have any comment real quickly?

40:57 – 41:27•Bernard Einstein

The Determinant for the gross floor areas in the prices the 5,000 feet for the 7500 and 5000 to 10 to 12,005 are we copying another ordinance or how did we So so I looked at three other cities that do zoning and I'd looked at our overall fee structure and try to determine how many houses per year would need to review and what we would need the charge in order to cover the salary and benefits of an employee

42:01•Bernard Einstein

I just want to know if there was a, how we came up.

42:22 – 42:47•Bernard Einstein

I'm sure when we get a 20,000 square foot house and you put it on someone's steps to start analyzing compliance issues with zoning, it becomes a task. The other question I just had. The variance fee up to 5000. Are we is that high compared to other municipalities? Are we in? Keeping with like an Indian Creek about Harbor.

44:06 – 44:27•Bernard Einstein

And as we talked about on the phone, I guess Mr. Klinger, who came in with a bunch of variances at one time for his house. with the steps and the different things, if you have multiple variances at the same time, they all come under the umbrella of the 5,000?

44:37•Glenn Singer

We're going to be fair to the residents. Okay, it's just going to be fair.

45:58•Glenn Singer

I want to clarify something you said. We're not charging this fee because these homes are nicer and bigger. We're charging this fee because these are true construction costs.

46:20•Glenn Singer

Right. But construction costs have gone up extraordinarily. That's the minimum.

46:38•Glenn Singer

Okay. Thank you. Thank you, counsel. Any public comments? Nope, close it to public. Roll call, please.

46:51•Glenn Singer

Yeah, I got you. I'm going to make a motion to amend this to add Zone 2 and 3 to change it from $600 to $900 per square foot.

47:12•Glenn Singer

I'm gonna make an... Offer a motion to make a motion to add to my... But I'll let you do it.

47:31 – 47:45•Glenn Singer

Okay, all in favor of my amendment? Aye. Aye. Anyone oppose? Okay, so amendment is added to the resolution number eight. Town Clerk, roll call, please.

47:55 – 48:17•Glenn Singer

And that's resolution six, not eight. I apologize. Perfect. Thank you. Motion passes. Item number seven, resolution of town council, approving a change order. I apologize for my voice. A change order or a new agreement on the John Bell Construction Inc. for the civil work services relating to the Wellness Center and the reimagined Tweedle Park projects.

48:36•Glenn Singer

I need a second. Okay. Town manager, item number seven.

53:50•Glenn Singer

Perfect. Thank you, Town Manager. Great explanation. Town Council, any comments?

53:55•Judy Lusskin

Could you explain a little bit more where the stamped concrete is going to be in comparison to pavers?

54:45•Judy Lusskin

Stamped concrete or stamped concrete pattern? Is there a difference?

54:53 – 55:09•Glenn Singer

One thing you did neglect to mention is that of this amount, we received $850,000 grant from the state of Florida to pay for a part of this site work. So that was a big help. All right. Any other comments? Councilman Einstein.

55:10 – 55:30•Bernard Einstein

So if I'm looking at the what page is this page? I don't know why it says page two of two. They all say page two of two of the memo. But the one with the numbers where it says 1,800,000, Alex? Yeah, I got it.

55:33•Bernard Einstein

Yeah, but take a look. They're all page two of two. If you go back one.

55:45 – 56:01•Bernard Einstein

That's it. Sorry about that. The general conditions, the $238,396, is there backup for that somewhere or if I go further on or I kind of missed what that

56:20 – 56:47•Bernard Einstein

Yeah, I see this here. Now I see it. Yeah, I see it. All right. It's totaled on the top, not on the bottom. Temporary fencing, temporary toilet, estimating, superintendent, project manager, project accountant, job site supervisor, floor protection, punch out.

56:49•Glenn Singer

In any construction job, you always have general conditions.

57:19•Glenn Singer

It's not for the right now court. It's for the pickleball court.

57:58•Glenn Singer

Everyone else good? Public comments? Close to the public. Roll call, town clerk, please. Item number seven. Yes. Vice Mayor Bendel? Yes.

58:10 – 58:25•Glenn Singer

Bernstein yes councilmember Einstein yes motion passes okay moving on to item number eight a resolution of town council approving a contract with John Bell construction Inc for the installation of recreational facilities at the reimagined Tweedle Park

58:50•Glenn Singer

Need a motion? Motion. Need a second? Second.

1:02:42•Glenn Singer

Right. One other thing I do want to add is that this project will not exceed three hundred forty two thousand forty and twenty nine dollars and fifty two cents.

1:03:05•Glenn Singer

OK, with that, I'm going to open up to council. I'll start on your side first. Councilman Einstein, any comments?

1:03:11 – 1:03:36•Bernard Einstein

Yeah, so real quickly, on our DS, we have this legacy construction. I think we talked about this yesterday. This was because you went out to bid with other people. That what we're getting here is a very good price. A fair deal. And I guess you beat them up as much as you could.

1:04:13•Bernard Einstein

You know, when I looked at some of the things, I know they got a superintendent, they got the porta potty again, they got the portable fencing. Is there any redundancy between some of this?

1:05:19 – 1:05:38•Bernard Einstein

Just one other question on that. not the paddle, the pickle courts, are we alleviating the potential problem in the future? And I want to be clear about that. We're spending a lot of money here.

1:07:34•Glenn Singer

I can tell you, Ben, my tennis court, every six, five years, four years, I have to come in and resurface it and redo it because of settling.

1:07:44•Bernard Einstein

I understand that. This is not a resurface that we're doing.

1:07:48•Glenn Singer

No, I understand. But we have issues underneath the court. Councilman Einstein brings up a good point. we're fixing the one court is the second court.

1:08:04•Bernard Einstein

Okay. I just curious if, if we just resurfaced the area,

1:08:34•Bernard Einstein

Perfect. Underneath this, we have like a well, right?

1:09:23 – 1:09:40•Bernard Einstein

So just accurate, if you wanted to put pile in, could you on top of the wells or would you, or there's- They would put the piles in between facilities that are left in place. And did we get an idea how much that would-

1:10:17•Judy Lusskin

About how long will everything be closed?

1:12:42 – 1:12:53•Glenn Singer

One unit as the sub base starts to be washed out and the like it's it's it's not like a stupid question But what's the difference between what he just said and what we're doing to the Patel court?

1:13:35•Glenn Singer

But I understand that. Why don't you do the same thing with the pickle? Yeah, why don't we do the same thing with the pickle?

1:13:53•Glenn Singer

But the pickleball court is the same dimensions as the Padel court. No, they're not.

1:14:01•Bernard Einstein

Fidel's smaller? No, Fidel's bigger. No, no, Fidel's much smaller. Then the two.

1:14:17•Glenn Singer

Just help me understand it. But Councilman Bernstein brings up a good point. Yeah.

1:15:06•Glenn Singer

I agree with you. 100%. I've forgotten the pickle. We're only improving or repairing a certain area. Correct. I got that.

1:15:11•Bernard Einstein

Wait, we're not taking out the whole pickle?

1:15:14•Glenn Singer

No. Taking out the middle section. Just the middle.

1:19:21 – 1:19:38•Bernard Einstein

without without deleting the project but I think the concern there there's just that concern if we put a band-aid on you know we fix this this way and two years later you know we come up with the pickleball court with the same situation we spent I don't know how much money

1:21:10•Glenn Singer

What Alex is explaining to you, by putting it on a concrete slab, the longevity of the Padel court is going to be long.

1:22:28•Bernard Einstein

I think the question is, after we pass this.

1:22:46 – 1:23:29•Glenn Singer

Alex? I hear you suggest if everyone is good we approve this item if everyone approves it only if everyone approves it town manager and I will make an intelligent decision on the pilings we'll get at a quote we'll get an estimate we'll make an intelligent decision if something sticks out that hey maybe we should revisit again we'll bring it back the next council meeting but as it stands now if the town manager and i agree that this is the best route to go which i believe we go ahead with it can we just even go one step further if you think if you think it makes sense to do with the pilings you

1:24:17•Bernard Einstein

I'm just asking. That's more mucky than over there.

1:24:39 – 1:24:54•Glenn Singer

So that's my suggestion if everyone's okay with that. So right now, any public comments? I'm going to close it to the public. Right now, we're going to vote on item number eight. Town Clerk, please.

1:25:03•Glenn Singer

And I just want to make a comment that you have my word that I will meet with the town manager, as I always do, and we will look at it. And if something sticks out, we will bring it back to the council.

1:25:18 – 1:25:37•Bernard Einstein

Just for clarification, the paddle ball court itself is larger than a pickleball court, but the area we're fixing on the pickleball court is smaller than the Padel court. Is that correct? Padel is bigger than pickle.

1:26:04•Bernard Einstein

Yeah, right. So it's a small area. I don't know why, but I just thought we were fixing the whole two pickleball courts.

1:26:12 – 1:26:38•Glenn Singer

Okay. Moving on. Number nine. Before we get to item number nine, we have one quick in-house matter we need to take care of. Set?

1:26:44 – 1:27:47•Glenn Singer

One minute? OK. Maybe two. We take a one minute breather after that last discussion. Don't say anything. We're ready. Okay, kind of hungry, and since it's someone's birthday, before we go on number nine, we'd like to wish our town manager, and everybody can sing along with me. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Alex. Happy birthday to you. Alex, I know I speak for all the council. We wish you a happy and healthy 40th birthday. 38, correct? I'm sorry. 48.

1:28:21•Glenn Singer

Well, we wish you a happy birthday. Thank you. No kick for Councilman Bernstein, though.

1:28:40•Glenn Singer

We're getting you additional hair transplant.

1:28:49 – 1:29:06•Glenn Singer

Happy birthday. Let's move on to item number nine. Item number nine, a resolution of town council authorizing the town manager to initiate contract negotiation and procurement for fitness equipment and town wellness center. Town clerk?

1:29:23•Glenn Singer

Need a motion to approve? Motion to approve. Need a second? Second. Town manager, before we get to the presentations, you want to go over this?

1:34:02•Glenn Singer

And again, we're not picking out individual equipment. We'll do that after.

1:35:25•Glenn Singer

And there's only certain equipment you want.

1:35:57•Bernard Einstein

Most of these, they had a warranty package too. Which was several. Thousands of dollars.

1:36:45•Glenn Singer

Let's hear the presentations. Bring on the presenters.

1:39:27•Glenn Singer

You're starting where? Where the treadmills are?

1:39:32•Bernard Einstein

Do you have a laser or something you can point at? I do not.

1:39:44•Bernard Einstein

Do you want to stand up here and point at it?

1:39:48•Glenn Singer

Why don't you stand up here and point at it? Yeah, yeah.

1:39:59 – 1:40:11•Bernard Einstein

Use the mic Hello And I apologize for speaking quickly this is

1:40:31•Bernard Einstein

Can I just say, are you showing four bikes? Yes, sir. Is that what the bid is, four bikes? No, it is not. Okay, fine.

1:42:20•Judy Lusskin

He's got a pointer for you. Oh, thank you very much.

1:44:38•Bernard Einstein

All right, keep going. Quick question on those things. Are those stacks or are they weights?

1:44:49•Bernard Einstein

Now, on some life fitness machines, they have counters.

1:45:51 – 1:46:03•Glenn Singer

I can tell you based on experience, every gym I work out, we're going to need two sets of those because the dumbbells are the most used. We would probably need two sets of those. Yeah.

1:46:03•Bernard Einstein

Put another set somewhere else in the gym.

1:46:13•Glenn Singer

So if you have a mirror back here and a tall weight, so you have somebody- I'm just saying maybe get two separate ones of those, but keep going. I got you. Yep, understood.

1:46:33•Glenn Singer

I'm just making a fact. You need two of those. Yep.

1:46:50•Bernard Einstein

If I could add something on the benches, I think we need more than two benches. I agree. Agreed.

1:48:59 – 1:49:10•Bernard Einstein

So let me ask you, between stations or at stations, you know, the big thing now is the cleaning when people are done with their machine. Do you offer, is that part of this?

1:49:16•Bernard Einstein

You don't have a matching life fitness coordinated thing? No, sir.

1:49:32•Bernard Einstein

That machine, the nine station machine, what we call it, you can configure that multiple ways, right? I mean, on your

1:50:21 – 1:50:35•Glenn Singer

My feeling towards spin bike, a lot of the new gyms don't even have spin bikes anymore because they've really come out of favor. For example, Equinox has spin bikes, and they're going to change that room, I heard, because no one uses it.

1:50:35•Bernard Einstein

Anatomy doesn't even have spin bikes. So what's your opinion on this?

1:50:51•Glenn Singer

The average president is not, and they're getting rid of the spin room.

1:51:05 – 1:51:21•Glenn Singer

And all the gyms that were involved, they are illuminating the street. I agree with you. Maybe put one or two spin bikes out on the floor and use that other room for like stretching. Pilates. Some classes, Pilates and other stuff. I think it's a waste of space.

1:51:57•Bernard Einstein

Is Pilates reformers, is that not part of your...

1:52:07 – 1:52:27•Glenn Singer

You don't want a reformer because you need an instructor. Yeah, and they're... You do Pilates mats. Yeah, if you hire somebody. You get a Pilates instructor and do it on the mats. Reformers are, A, very expensive, and, B, you need a certified instructor. Someone will get hurt using a reformer that's not trained on how to use a reformer.

1:53:38•Glenn Singer

Go back a slide. Did Jim say, I agree you need those, but do you need four of those?

1:53:46•Glenn Singer

Four-fit. I'd rather get other equipment. We need what you said, more benches and other stuff and mats.

1:54:11 – 1:54:25•Bernard Einstein

Go back to the dumbbell one. So you're showing 50s is your biggest number there. The proposal has 100. Something to think about with the hundreds and liability with those also.

1:54:25•Glenn Singer

The younger people, no liability. Same thing in a gym. I curl 120. The younger people want heavier weight. I curl 120.

1:54:44•Glenn Singer

The average age in this community of county kids is probably in the high 30s.

1:55:13•Bernard Einstein

The Smith machines, are they assist or non-assist?

1:55:30•Glenn Singer

How many plates are we getting? Go back to the flat bench.

1:55:58•Glenn Singer

One other thing I would add is kettlebells. Everyone uses kettlebells. Yes. You don't have kettlebells.

1:56:07•Bernard Einstein

That's perfect. Time. How about bench press assist? Is that...

1:56:14•Glenn Singer

So when you say assistance, we have a... Yeah, no, that's on the Smith machine he's talking about. Yeah, but is it a cable?

1:56:40•Bernard Einstein

You don't want... At Turnberry, is that what they?

1:56:55•Bernard Einstein

Just out of curiosity. Mr. Mayor. You have an A, B, and C, like insignia and things like that. Yes, sir. What are we looking at here?

1:57:06•Bernard Einstein

We're at the top line. The colors that you're throwing here, these are just for...

1:58:00•Bernard Einstein

And extend for the other person just the same amount of time?

1:58:39•Glenn Singer

So we could take out spin bikes and add other equipment. But we could do that later today, yeah. Just trying to see.

2:00:24•Bernard Einstein

Quick question. Yes. On the monitors, are we intending to hook, like, Hotwire to that or any of that?

2:00:31•Glenn Singer

They're all Internet. It's going to be Internet in there. They're all Internet-driven.

2:00:37•Bernard Einstein

Hotwire in there, so it's all Internet-driven. So if you've got Netflix you want to watch, you can...

2:01:52•Glenn Singer

Jeff. Jeff. Perfect. Thank you, Jeff. Anyone have any other questions for Jeff?

2:01:58•Bernard Einstein

Just while we're all here, Turnberry has colored plates, red, white, green.

2:03:22 – 2:03:55•Bernard Einstein

I've been at Turnberry. I've been in Vail. I've been in Aspen. And I've gone to people and asked them how to work a machine. None of the people ever know how to work a machine. I don't care what kind of training program. I said, can you give me the book? I'll read it in order to find out how to calibrate it and get the type of numbers I want to get out of it. Very few people know how to use these machines. They can have all the buzzers and bells on them. Equinox, nobody knew. And Equinox is a pretty big operation.

2:04:03•Glenn Singer

You just put your phone there and it shows you a video on how to do it. Oh, that's great.

2:04:59•Glenn Singer

Welcome. Sorry we didn't recognize you sooner.

2:05:02•Bernard Einstein

Thank you, Mayor. Alex, did you just say it was $85,000?

2:07:56•Glenn Singer

Yeah, so that's just a little overview. Thank you. Oh, it's your birthday too?

2:10:12•Bernard Einstein

Because on the previous slide, it was listing all pre-core.

2:14:39•Glenn Singer

So just as you go through the machines, how many steppers did you recommend?

2:15:09•Glenn Singer

So how many of these treadmills do you have, these short ones?

2:15:53•Glenn Singer

Go back one sec. How many of those bikes you have?

2:21:58•Bernard Einstein

Understanding that five years, anything that breaks down here, you bring somebody out to

2:26:16 – 2:26:36•Bernard Einstein

You know, I don't know what it seems like there's a variety of machinery. Tell me about pre-core life fitness in terms of price point because I can't go through each one of them. Right. Is pre-core more expensive? I mean, you can buy anything. Right, right. Is pre-core more expensive?

2:26:50 – 2:27:01•Bernard Einstein

We started at Exsignia on Life Fitness. Okay. That's their high end, right? Okay. And so on your machinery that you're showing us, are we middle of the road?

2:27:07•Bernard Einstein

Comparable to Insignia? Yes, yes. High-end? Yes. Because I saw a lot of cable type of... Did you have spinning bikes there?

2:27:25 – 2:28:04•Bernard Einstein

Glenn, just an add-on. They have an... maroon creek and a lot of clubs they just add that cybex machine you know that for shoulder and you do multiple things i think it's like a ten thousand dollar machine i don't know what the cost is do you have that cybex machine in this yes yeah we did functional trainers as well as the multi-stack so you've got one that's got four stations It's all the way in the right-hand corner towards the tennis courts. If you walked in the room, they might have moved it around, but it was in the right-hand corner. I don't know if they have it anymore.

2:28:21•Bernard Einstein

It's pretty good. Do you guys have any questions for Kelly? But you've got to adjust it. That's the problem.

2:29:44•Glenn Singer

I got a question. Did Lifetime, he didn't talk about flooring.

2:30:26•Glenn Singer

One is recommending that consulting So with that I'm just gonna go around and ask your comments. I'll start with vice mayor any comments? I

2:30:59•Judy Lusskin

I don't know what to say. They all seem good. Is there any possibility that we would want a little from here and a little from there?

2:31:07 – 2:31:36•Glenn Singer

Is those possible? To answer that question. The second presenter offers multiple diff options. But with Lifetime Fitness, I can tell you from the gyms that we work out at, they have different varieties of Lifetime Fitness. So any machine, I don't want to say any machine, but pretty close to any machine. It may not be like pre-core. Lifetime has a similar machine based on my experience in gyms.

2:33:28•Judy Lusskin

Which one of the two is considered the higher level?

2:35:11•Glenn Singer

Well, we got a, from both of them, we got a pretty good feel of the equipment.

2:35:17•Glenn Singer

Well, he said we could change, we'll change.

2:35:23•Glenn Singer

We'll get rid of the spin bikes and buy different equipment, more equipment.

2:35:40•Glenn Singer

We're not choosing equipment tonight. We we're choosing vendor.

2:37:04 – 2:37:30•Glenn Singer

You're doing this or that, but... Well, the equipment, again, so everyone understands, we're not picking the individual equipment. What we'll do is once we select the vendor, they'll do a final proposal. Alex, we all can make recommendations to the town manager and then we can adjust with the equipment, you know, take out some, add some, and figure out what it is. But again, tonight, we're not selecting the equipment. We're selecting the vendor.

2:37:30 – 2:38:12•Bernard Einstein

The only trouble, and I'd like to read this to you because this is what I thought would happen. If we go with Life Fitness, you will only provide Life Fitness equipment, correct? Okay. So in a perfect world, if you want to read this, Pre-core is smoother, more ergonomic, and joint-friendly. I'm just doing pre-core and life fitness because I think they're the top. Okay? Life fitness, heavier-duty, strength-focused, gym-hardcore. So in a perfect gym, they go with pre-core with the machinery, and they go with life fitness with the machinery.

2:38:27 – 2:38:52•Bernard Einstein

But for the elliptical and for the other thing, it's basically more joint-friendly and more smoother. And that's the only thing. You know... Pre-core for the... You're not going to go wrong with life fitness. I know the machinery. You know the machinery. You know, picking and choosing whatever. The only thing is, if you wanted pre-core as an adjunct for your cardio... As the town manager mentioned...

2:38:52 – 2:39:07•Glenn Singer

And Alex, correct me, we can buy, if we go, hypothetically, I'm just saying, say we're with Life Fitness, we could always add pre-core machines down the road. You say, hey, I want to get this pre-core thing. We can always add. It may not be through lifetime, but we could always add.

2:39:07 – 2:39:41•Bernard Einstein

It might be a 10%, 20% difference in ergonomics, in smooth ability. I think what we're looking at is longevity and not breaking down. And I think life fitness is going to probably fulfill that. I think if you go with three, I don't know the star tech. Star tech, I know how to bite. And I'm a little uncomfortable with that. I think the monitors are important on a lot of these machines.

2:39:41•Glenn Singer

Well, the treadmills all had good monitors. Both companies had great monitors on the treadmills.

2:39:49 – 2:40:09•Bernard Einstein

And that would, you know... Most successful gyms use both brands together. Pre-court, cardio, floor, general use. Strength, floor, and serious trainer. But if you go with Life Fitness, you're going to be... Well, let me give the scenario under the Life Fitness, right?

2:42:05•Judy Lusskin

Liv said between 24 and 48 hours, if we have a problem, they'll get in touch with us. That doesn't mean they're going to repair it in 24 or 48 hours. A big essential facility?

2:42:17 – 2:42:43•Glenn Singer

So, we have both proposals, okay? I'm going to make my recommendation, and then you guys can make your recommendations. I would say, based on the presentations that I saw, I prefer, again, it's my preference, Life Fitness. Okay. So I'm going to ask you, Vice Mayor, your preference.

2:42:57 – 2:43:17•Judy Lusskin

Councilwoman let me agree with life fitness everywhere. I go. I see life fitness machines. They look good when they're all stacked together the room looks right It was honest. You didn't have to go to the deluxe Right and get a get a good job done and whatever and I think they'll be out Relatively quick if a machine that's up.

2:43:18•Glenn Singer

They're all over the mini total square feet So my votes life fitness Ken Bernstein, I know it's hard to make decisions You're gonna have to choose one

2:43:51•Glenn Singer

Ken, you should base it on experience. I mean, you belong to several clubs.

2:44:43 – 2:44:57•Bernard Einstein

The same thing. The demographics of the population, you know, I don't want to look at myself as that person. What do you foresee the people using the gym?

2:44:57 – 2:45:16•Glenn Singer

Honestly, I see majority of gyms, just from people walking around the neighborhood. I mean, Ken and I ride. I walk my dogs every day, see people exercise and walk around. I would say the average age in that gym will probably be 40 years old, 45 max. You know, there'll be some older, definitely, but...

2:45:20•Glenn Singer

But there'll be a lot of younger people, a lot of the kids.

2:45:22•Judy Lusskin

I think it's going to be very well used by all age groups.

2:45:25•Glenn Singer

Yeah, me too. But I think the majority of it is going to be somewhere in the 40 to 50 range.

2:45:30•Judy Lusskin

That's the majority of the people that live here.

2:45:38•Judy Lusskin

At the end of the day at 5 o'clock the people are home.

2:45:40 – 2:46:26•Bernard Einstein

And that's also an aspect of the selection process, I think. If we were going to have an older population primarily using this, then I'd say we may want to look to maybe a little different type of equipment. If it's going to be on the younger age, 35 to 50, or active people like Ken and Glenn that work out frequently until they break a joint or two, they're going to probably want the life fitness, although pre-core Also, some of that stuff with the cables that she was showing, I couldn't really, it's hard to see that machine in my brain. So I'm leaning towards the Life Fitness.

2:46:27•Glenn Singer

And Life Fitness has the cable. Yeah, but I don't know. Mr. Mayor.

2:46:31•Judy Lusskin

But I think they both could be adjusted to almost anything.

2:46:34•Bernard Einstein

The only thing I want the cable is the pull and the pull down. And you want these cables. And they have that in the middle machine.

2:46:40•Glenn Singer

Mr. Mayor? So town manager, based on the town council's opinion, we would prefer life fitness.

2:48:38 – 2:48:52•Bernard Einstein

Town manager, quick question. Yes, sir. And maybe other people picked this up. Although they talked about warranties, there was another catch-all with preventative maintenance. Like a monthly thing where they come in.

2:49:05•Bernard Einstein

They have a schedule. And is that included in the warranty?

2:49:25•Bernard Einstein

Yeah, Life Fitness. The fee is, I mean, we just got to realize that.

2:49:29 – 2:49:44•Glenn Singer

I can tell you from my equipment from home, I have the stepper, I have the treadmill, I have probably 15 pieces of equipment. I don't want to jinx it. I've had one issue with the treadmill in 15 years, and I ended up just buying the treadmill.

2:50:26•Judy Lusskin

I thought Life Fitness will come once a month.

2:51:31 – 2:51:43•Bernard Einstein

Are we understanding correctly, though, if we happen to have asked Liv to go buy the life fitness equipment, it would cost more...

2:51:55•Judy Lusskin

But Liv in their inventory has numerous vendors that they work with. Correct. Where Life Fitness has one.

2:52:07 – 2:52:28•Glenn Singer

Correct. Town manager just to reiterate. So my understanding is we're gonna contract with life fitness We're gonna talk to the other vendor to see if we can parcel out Flooring some maintenance and some other machines from them, which I'm sure they would do Okay, and I'm possibly together the PM the gym.

2:52:37•Bernard Einstein

Quick question. Yes. When we get down to the bottom line of selecting equipment.

2:52:42•Glenn Singer

He will meet with each of you individually.

2:53:10•Glenn Singer

But Alex, we need to consider, we need to do it ASAP. April 14th meeting. The lead time is realistically four months.

2:53:39 – 2:53:51•Glenn Singer

With that, I'll close it. Council, any public comments? Roll call on item number nine, selecting Life Fitness as our vendor and with the option of speaking to Home Fitness.

2:55:43•Glenn Singer

We have birthday one day. Yes, sir. Hey, we're gonna make a motion to adjourn all favor say aye. Aye great job
